Celebrate National Kids to Parks day with E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park! Our interpretive staff will lead a hike down the Goose Creek Nature Trail, exploring and explaining the various species of birds, trees, and plants that are observed along the way. At the end of the hike, a children's nature craft will be provided so that you can remember the day for years to come!
The Goose Creek Nature Trail is a fairly moderate terrain, with only a slight elevation change as you make your way down to the creek itself. Trail is suitable for leashed dogs and off road strollers. Those with walking aids may have some trouble.
The hike will last approximately 1.5 hours, with the craft to follow.
Hike begins at 1pm, and wraps up around 3pm. There is no fee to be involved, but please call ahead to RSVP so we can make sure and have enough materials on hand for everyone who wants to join us. Call 502-429-7270 to RSVP.
You'll meet our staff at the Picnic grove which is adjacent to the park's Archery Range. To find this area, turn off of Freys Hill rd at the BMX track entrance, and go all of the way to the end. The Picnic grove will be on your right. There are a few parking spots available at the archery range, and additional spots can be found at the softball facility on the right before the soccer fields.
Hope to see you then!
