After spending the day hiking, fishing or exploring, there’s no better way to take a break than to enjoy a good meal of fried chicken, bison or traditional wild game. The Kentucky State Parks typically offer several opportunities like that during the winter months. Each KY state park restaurant offers a diverse selection of cuisine, with American and ethnic influences.
With 17 state resort parks with restaurants, the Kentucky State Parks offer a wide variety of good food across the state, including many Kentucky Proud items. You can even enjoy craft bourbon whiskey from local distilleries.
A number of state park restaurants plan special meals with select menus, making them dining destinations rivaling the top eateries in Louisville or Lexington. The special meals for 2016 are posted below.

Lake Cumberland State Resort Park in Jamestown will hold a Frontier Night Buffet on April 9 from 5-8 p.m. Central time. The menu will include buffalo chili, alligator and sausage gumbo, carved buffalo, braised venison brisket, fried quail with cheese grits, Cajun fried alligator, roast of sage and garlic duck, chunky mashed new potatoes, chuck wagon green beans, trail corn and cream peas with mushrooms. Desserts include homemade banana pudding, peach cobbler, apple cobbler and assorted cakes and pies. The price for adults is $20.95; children ages 6-12 are $10.95 and children age 5 and under are free. The price includes a drink, but not tax. Take a walk on the wild side! Join us at Lake Barkley State Resort Park for the Wild Game Night Buffet on April 16, 2016. The buffet will feature frog legs, barbecued buffalo brisket, buffalo chili, carved steamship of buffalo, and duck and dumplings. The buffet is $24.99 for adults and $12.99 for children (ages 6-12). The wild game buffet will include roasted top round of bison carved to order, Ale-8 One country ham, tender barbecue buffalo ribs, buffalo meatloaf and buffalo burgers, venison and rabbit burgoo, snapping turtle soup, and all the fixings. There will also be a dessert bar including baked Alaska. There will be a free Bluegrass concert by Mike Creech and Southern Blend between 5-7 p.m. in the Hemlock Lodge lobby. The buffet is $21.95 for adults, $8.95 for children ages 6-12 and children under 6 eat free.
