Easter Weekend

Several Kentucky State Parks will be holding family-fun events during the Easter weekend and resort parks will be serving the annual Easter buffet on April 16.

The menu includes beef carved on the line, baked country ham, golden fried catfish and hushpuppies. The meal will also include fresh fruit, a cheese bar, garden vegetables, salad and desserts. Click here to view the menu. 

The price for adults is $19.50, and children (12 and under) are $9.50, not including tax. The price includes a beverage. The buffet will be served starting at 11 a.m.

General Butler State Resort Park will have seatings at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30, 4, and 5:30. Please call 502-732-4384. Buckhorn Lake will have a slightly different menu.

Here are the Easter buffet closing times for all of the resort parks:

Buffet closes at 4 p.m.: Buckhorn Lake, Pine Mountain.
Buffet closes at 5 p.m.: Lake Cumberland, Kenlake, Kentucky Dam Village.
Buffet closes at 6 p.m.: Pennyrile Forest.
Buffet closes at 7 p.m.: Natural Bridge, General Butler, Carter Caves.
Buffet closes at 8 p.m.: Dale Hollow, Barren River, Rough River, Cumberland Falls, Jenny Wiley, Blue Licks Battlefield, Lake Barkley.

Fort Boonesborough State Park, Richmond
Easter Fest, April 7-9

Old Fort Harrod State Park, Harrodsburg

Easter Egg and Candy Hunt, April 15
Everyone is invited out to attend this celebration on the front lawn!  Sponsored by the Harrodsburg Kiwanis Club this event brings out hundreds of youngsters of all ages.  Games and booths and the Easter Bunny too. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 859-734-3314.


Rough River Dam State Resort Park, Falls of Rough
Easter Eggstravaganza, April 15
The largest Easter Egg Hunt in the area is brought to you by the Friends of Rough River and happens the day before Easter Sunday at Rough River Dam State Resort Park. There are hunts for all age groups from 1 year old and under to 11 years of age. Prizes and lots of fun. Registration starts at 12:30 p.m. Central Time, with the hunt beginning at 1 p.m. (subject to change). It’s the largest Easter Egg Hunt in the area. Over 7,000 eggs will be distributed at Rough River Dam State Resort Park. Call 270-257-2311.


Carter Caves State Resort Park, Olive Hill
Easter Weekend Getaway, April 15-16
We will have family oriented recreation programs throughout the weekend.  Egg coloring, scavenger hunting and other fun recreational program opportunities will be offered. On Easter Day, we will be serving our Easter buffet and will have our annual Easter egg hunt sponsored by the Carter Caves Homemakers with over 1,000 eggs for children 12 and under. The egg hunt will start promptly at 2 p.m. at the Welcome Center.  Tours of Cascade and X-cave will be on a regular schedule. Call 606-286-4411.


Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, Burkesville
Easter Day Egg Hunt, April 16
Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park will hold a giant Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday starting at 1 p.m. The park will have over 3,000 eggs filled with treats. Age groups for ages up to 12 years old. Call 270-433-7431.


Lake Barkley State Resort Park, Cadiz
Easter Egg Hunt, April 16
 Windows on the Water restaurant will offer its annual Easter buffet, from noon to 8 p.m. That afternoon, Lake Barkley State Resort Park showers the fields with over 3,000 eggs in our Egg-ceptional Egg Hunt! The Easter bunny arrives at the Fitness Center at 2:30 p.m. and the egg hunt starts at 3 p.m. at the Fitness Center. From toddlers to teenagers, bring your baskets and gather some egg-ceptional goodies! This egg hunt is sponsored by employees of Lake Barkley State Resort Park and Friends of Lake Barkley SRP, Inc. Easter Egg Buffet and Egg Hunt
Easter Buffet & Egg Hunt April 16, 2017
Join us on Sunday, April 16 for our annual Easter Buffet from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. in the dining room, that overlooks the lake.  There will be a cheese and salad bar, with assorted salads and relishes, entrees of catfish and hushpuppies, roast beef, and chicken dumplings, garden vegetables and dessert bar. Drink included. Prices are $14.49 for adults, $7.49 children 6-12 plus tax and gratuity, children 5 and under eat for free.
Don't forget to bring your camera and meet the Easter Bunny during the Easter Egg Hunt (for children 12 and under) that Sunday as well on the Marina Road.  Children will be divided into age groups.  It will begin at 2:30 P.M. Meadow’s in the Bloom, Easter Traditions, now through April 15
A fun, discovery-filled tour about the traditions of the Easter holiday in Victorian America. A great experience for the whole family! See the historic mansion "My Old Kentucky Home" decorated for the Easter holiday! On display in the mansion's parlor is our birch Easter tree with hand decorated eggs! Learn the amazing process of how eggs were painted in the Victorian Era. Eggstravaganza” Art, Story Telling & Live Bunnies, April 1
Bring your little bunnies ages 3-8, for a Boppin’ good time at the annual “Eggstravagaza.” Children will enjoy creating and painting their very own bunny to take home. Real LIVE Bunnies will for sure be a hit. Easter snacks will wind up a Great Day. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Easter Egg Hunt, April 15
Jenny Wiley State Resort Park’s annual Easter egg hunt will be held at the campground at 2 p.m. on April 15. We will have 8,000 treat filled eggs along with some prize filled eggs. For ages 12 and under. Bring a camera and get some pictures with the Easter Bunny! Call 606-886-1790.


Kenlake State Resort Park, Aurora

Easter Breakfast, Buffet and Egg Hunt, April 16
Kenlake State Resort Park will host an Easter breakfast buffet on Easter Sunday from 7-9 a.m. The annual Easter buffet will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The park’s Easter egg hunt will be at 2 p.m. at the front lawn for children in age groups up to 12 years old. William Whitley House State Historic Site, Stanford
Easter Egg-citement, April 15
Easter Egg-citement in the Park will begin at the William Whitley House State Historic Site on Saturday April 15, at the picnic shelter at 11 a.m. Some of the excitement includes games for the whole family, face decorating, and you may bring your own entry for our best decorated egg contest.  The Easter bunny may be hopping by so be sure and keep an eye out.  The egg hunt will begin at 1 p.m. and is for children ages 11 and under.  Come early and enjoy the day in the park.
