Easter Weekend

Many Kentucky State Parks are holding special events in the spring at Easter time. Here’s a listing of 2018 Easter egg hunts and other events that create great family memories!

Kentucky State Park Easter Buffet
April 1
Kentucky State Parks will be serving the annual Easter buffet April 1 at 15 resort park restaurants.  The menu includes beef carved on the line, baked country ham and local favorites. The meal will also include fresh fruit, a cheese bar, garden vegetables, salad and desserts. The price for adults is $19.50, and children (12 and under) are $9.50, not including tax. The price does not include a beverage. The buffet will be served starting at noon with various ending times. Click here to view the menu! Buckhorn Lake and Kenlake state resort parks will not be serving the Easter buffet. All other resort parks will host the buffet. 

Barren River Lake State Resort Park, Lucas
Easter Egg Hunt, March 31
Barren River Lake State Resort Park will be hiding 2,000 eggs for the egg hunt that will take place on our Highland Field at 10:30am. Four age categories: 3 & under, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12.  Prizes awarded to the finders of the “special egg” in each age category. Egg hunt is free. Call 270-646-2151.

Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park, Mount Olivet
Egg Hunt, March 31
More than 2,000 eggs filled with candy will be hidden for children. There will be four age categories for children 12 and under. Prizes awarded for those that find the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place eggs and “special” eggs in each category. There will be two different hunts. At 10:30 am there will be activities and Easter eggs will be handed out, age groups 0-2 & 3-5 (Sponsored by the Robertson County Tourism Commission) will be at the lodge. At 11:30 a.m. age groups 6-8 & 9-12 (Sponsored by Blue Licks & the Blue Licks Commemorative Commission) will be at the Pioneer Museum. Call 859-289-5507.

Carter Caves State Resort Park, Olive Hill
Easter Weekend Getaway, March 30-April 1
Carter Caves State Resort Park will have family oriented recreation programs throughout the weekend.  Events include egg coloring, scavenger hunting and other fun recreational program opportunities. On Easter Day, the park will serve the Easter buffet and will have the annual Easter egg hunt sponsored by the Friends of Carter Caves with over 1,000 eggs for children 12 and under.  The egg hunt will start promptly at 2 p.m. at the Welcome Center.  Tours of Cascade and X-cave will be on a regular schedule. Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, Burkesville
Egg Hunt, March 31
Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park has traveled east of the sunrise to Bunny Hollow, where Jellybean Trees grow and marshmallow chicks peep in the sunshine, to find Peter Cottontail. At 10:30 a.m., Peter will begin his egg hunt in the campground. Eggs of all colors will be hidden with a prize egg in each of the following age categories 3 & under, 4-5, 6-8, and 9-11. Greenbo Lake State Resort Park, Greenup
Easter Egg Hunt, March 31
Hop on down to Greenbo Lake’s amphitheater for an Easter egg hunt.  The Easter Bunny will hide 1,000 eggs and will be there to greet you.  There will be two hunts.  The first hunt for ages 0–5 will start at 2 p.m.  The second hunt for ages 6 – 12 will begin at approximately 2:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in each category.  There will be photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny. Greenbo Lake’s Angler’s Cove Restaurant will be serving the annual Easter buffet from 11:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 1. Call 606-473-7324.   

Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, Prestonsburg
Easter Egg Hunt, March 31
The park plans to hide thousands of eggs for the egg hunt that starts in the campground at 2 p.m. There will be prizes, the Easter bunny and plenty of photo opportunities. Call 606-889-1790.

John James Audubon State Park, Henderson 
Eggstravaganza, March 24
Bring your little Bunnies ages 3-8, for a boppin’ good time at the annual “Eggstravaganza.”  Children will enjoy creating and painting their very own bunny to take home. Real LIVE Bunnies will for sure be a hit. Easter snacks will wind up a Great Day. Children ages 3-8 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required. Open 10:30 a.m. to noon, $5 each. Kingdom Come State Park, Cumberland
Easter Egg Hunt, April 1
Kingdom Come State Park will host an Easter egg hunt for ages 10 and under on April 1 at 3 p.m. at the shelter area. There will also be prizes, games and activities for children. Call 606-589-4138.

Lake Barkley State Resort Park, Cadiz
Easter Egg Hunt, April 1
Windows on the Water restaurant will offer its annual Easter buffet, from noon-8 p.m., with choice beef carved on the line, country ham, golden fried catfish, garden veggies and much more!  That afternoon, Lake Barkley showers the fields with over 3,000 eggs in our Egg-ceptional Egg Hunt! The Easter Bunny arrives at the fitness center at 2:30 p.m. and the egg hunt starts at 3 p.m. at the fitness center.  From toddlers to teenagers, bring your baskets and gather some goodies. Employees of Lake Barkley State Park and Friends of Lake Barkley SRP, Inc. sponsor this egg hunt. The Easter egg hunt will move indoors in case of bad weather. Lake Cumberland State Resort Park, Jamestown
Easter Egg Hunt, March 31 
Hop on over to the disc golf course, located next to Lure Lodge, where the Easter Bunny has hidden thousands of candy-filled eggs for the 11 a.m. egg hunt! Free miniature golf 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kids who participate in the egg hunt will receive a meal voucher that can be redeemed with the purchase of an adult meal at the Rowena Landing Restaurant, located in Lure Lodge. Grown ups -- we didn't forget about you! Hop on down to the Lure Lodge anytime between March 1-15 to pick up your clues to participate in the GOLDEN EGG HUNT! Old Fort Harrod State Park, Harrodsburg
Community Egg and Candy Hunt, March 31
The egg hunt at the park is sponsored by the Harrodsburg Kiwanis Club.  The event is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the candy hunt at noon.  Other events include photos with the Easter Bunny, Safe Kids ID registration, races and games for all ages under 12.  This is a free event. Call 859-734-3314.

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, Dawson Springs
Easter Eggcitement, April 1
Make Easter eggciting at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park! Schedule (Central Time): 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Buffet in Dining Room; 1:30 p.m. Easter Bunny pictures ($2/picture) at lodge; 2:30 p.m.; Free Easter egg hunt at lodge. Events will go on rain or shine!  Call 270-797-3421.
  
Rough River Dam State Resort Park, Falls of Rough
Easter Eggstravaganza, March 31
The largest Easter Egg Hunt in the area is brought to you by the Friends of Rough River and happens the day before Easter Sunday at Rough River Dam State Resort Park. There are hunts for all age groups from 1 year old and under to 11. Registration starts at 12:30 p.m. (CST) with the hunt beginning at 1 p.m. It’s the largest Easter egg hunt in the area. Over 7,000 eggs will be distributed at Rough River Dam State Resort Park. The park will serve the annual Easter buffet on Sunday, April 1, starting at 11 a.m. Call 270-257-2311.
