Bison Herd

Bison HerdThe fall/winter season is a great time to get out and see the Bison herd at Big Bone Lick. The bison tend to be very active during this time of year. The best time to see the bison up close to the fence is in the early morning when they are fed around 7:45 - 8:15 am.

Trail Information

Trails are in decent shape. However, recent rain has made them slick and muddy in spots. The two best trails to see wildlife this time of year are the Coralberry and Cedar Run. Don’t forget, while this is a great time to get out and see deer, turkeys, and squirrels please stay on the marked trails.

Nature and History Center

The nature center is open by appointment during the off season.. Interpretive themes in the nature center deal with flora and fauna local to the Northern Kentucky region. Fossil hunts, animal tracking, creek walks, survival programs, primitive technology classes and many other nature related programs are run out of the nature center during the peak summer months.
