Irish Classic
3/1/2008
A scenic 10K run on the tree lined roads surrounding E. P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park. The race will begin at 9:00 am with the awards ceremony following at either 11:00 am or 20 minutes after the last runner crosses the finish line. In addition to the race, there will also be a Health Fair set up where you can visit booths and pick up information about healthy living. All participants who register by February 16th will be guaranteed a long sleeved race t-shirt. T-shirts will be available while supplies last for all runners who register on race day. The registration fee is $20.00 for all who register before 5:00 pm on February 15th and $25.00 thereafter. Prizes will be awarded both to age group winners and overall winners.

National Kite Month Kick Off

April is National Kite Month and we here at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park want to kick it off right, so on March 29th we will again be hosting our annual Kite Day. There will be a “Fun Fly” where you can show off your own kite flying skills and there will also be other various kite-centered contests and a professional kite-flying demonstration. There is no cost for this event and the first 40 participants will receive a free kite.

STORYTELLING AND S’MORES

On May 31st, come and join us for an evening of storytelling and s’mores in E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park’s Picnic Grove. A professional storyteller will be on hand to delight you with his wonderful stories as you sit around a campfire roasting marshmallows and enjoying some delicious s’mores. There will be a fee of $5 per family to cover the cost of the s’mores ingredients.
Independence Day Celebration

Looking for a fun and exciting family-centered way to celebrate the 4th of July? Then come on out and join us at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park for our annual Independence Day Celebration. There will be live music, a kids play area, a BMX demonstration, a Civil War encampment and much much more! Capping off the evening will be a spectacular fireworks display that you don’t want to miss! The event is hosted by the Tom Sawyer State Park Foundation and while there is no charge for any of the games or activities, there will be a $5 parking fee that goes to the non-profit Tom Sawyer State Park Foundation that raises money to improve E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park areas and facilities.
E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park Triathlon XXVII

E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park is proud to host its 27th annual Triathlon on August 2. The race is a USAT sanctioned event that consists of a ½ mile swim, 14 mile bike ride and 5K run. All phases of the race will be held either on the park grounds or on the surrounding roads. Both individuals and teams are welcome, with registration opening on May 26th and running through July 27th. The race fee is $55 for individuals and $90 for teams. In addition, a $10 one-day insurance fee is required for all non-USAT members. All race participants will receive an official triathlon shirt and prizes will be awarded both to age group winners and overall winners.
Doggy Swim

Even our canine friends need a chance to show off their swimming skills! So on September 4th and 5th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and September 6th from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., E.P “Tom” Sawyer State Park is letting its Olympic size pool go to the dogs. This is a great opportunity for you to get your dog out of the house and take them for a swim. The cost is only $5 per dog and you will need to bring proof of your dog’s current vaccinations. Your dog will think that they never had it so good!
Halloween Harvest of Horrors

Join E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park for a night of tricks and treats! There will be a huge variety of Halloween themed activities for you and your family to enjoy! You can journey through the park on the “Hayride to Nowhere” or get lost in the “Maze of Doom.” In addition, you can try your luck on several of the different games that will be going on in the gymnasium, or if you prefer, you can show off your creative side with the arts and crafts projects and the costume contest. There will also be a Spook-tacular magic show. The event is free for the entire family and the spooks will begin at 5:00 pm and last until 9:00 pm.
