Green River Lake Trail Information
The park offers 28 miles of multi-use trails. A number of uses is permitted on some trails, while other trails are limited to specific uses. For the safety of all visitors and protection of the park, trail users are required to obey trail restrictions and follow the basic trail etiquette guidelines.
- Be courteous to other trail users. Always yield to equestrians. Allow other trail users to pass. When in a group, avoid blocking the trail.
- Stay alert. Horses and slower moving individuals may be startled by faster moving trail users. Make your presence known to others, particularly when approaching from behind.
- Stay on designated trails. Prevent injury to yourself and damage to natural resources by staying on designated trails.
- Observe safe speeds. At no time shall a trail user operate at a speed that is not reasonable, prudent or safe as conditions warrant.
- Observe all park rules and regulations. You are responsible for knowing the park rules and regulations. A complete list of all park rules is available at the park office.
- Tread lightly! Avoid excessive damage to trails such as rutting and erosion. Refrain from trail use under wet conditions.
Multi-Purpose Trails
The trails at Green River Lake State Park have multiple uses; for hiking, running, mountain biking and horseback riding. Foot-travel is allowed on all trails, but bikes and horses are restricted from some trails. For the safety of all park visitor’s and protection of the park’s natural resources, use trails only for the purpose intended. Refer to this list to determine what trails serve your interest, as well as trail length and level of difficulty. ALL TRAIL LENGTHS ARE ONE-WAY
Windy Ridge (1 mile / moderate)
This trail starts near the miniature golf course and meanders along Windy Ridge then swings back to the campground along the lake.
North Trail (2 miles / easy)
This trail starts near the park office and goes north then north east The trail divides into three trails where it ends.
Spur Trails Off the North Trail
EAGLE RIDGE TRAIL 1 mile / easy
DEER CREEK TRAIL 2 miles / moderate
RANGER TRAIL 1.5 miles / easy
SHOFNER LOOP 1 mile / easy
WILDCAT TRAIL 0.5 mile / easy
TURKEY BLUFF TRAIL 1.5 mile / easy, scenic
DEVILS CANYON 0.5 mile / very difficult
ROCKY BLUFF SPUR (scenic overlook) 0.5 mile / moderate.
Marina Main Trail (4.5 miles / easy)
This trail starts at the boat ramp near the campgrounds, proceeds west to the Bike Parking Area then southwest to the Marina. NOTE: The eastern section of the Marina / Main Trail is prohibited to horses. Those areas are marked on the trails.

Trail Regulations
Hikers assume all risks in the natural areas. Be prepared. Help preserve the park’s natural resources.
The following activities are prohibited:
- Carving or damaging rock formations and trees
- Hunting or disturbing wildlife
- Collecting or digging for artifacts
- Picking flowers or harming plants
- Firebuilding and camping
- Alcoholic beverages
- Unleashed pets
- Littering
- Motorized vehicles, biking, and horseback riding off official park trails
- Rappelling and rockclimbing
- Hiking after dark
For Your Safety:
- Do not hike alone.
- Wear proper clothing and footwear.
- Take a park map.
