Things To Do

Trails

Over 15 miles of trails are designated as multi-purpose trails, open for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking unless otherwise posted. No motorized uses are allowed. The trails generally follow old logging roads along narrow ridge tops through the park. Most of the trails end at the tips of these ridges which form peninsulas into Dale Hollow Lake, requiring a return trip on the same trail. View Trail Information.

Mountain Biking

Dale Hollow Lake Resort’s 3,400 acres give plenty of room for approved mountain bike trails. Bring your own bikes.

Ample cruising waters are edged with plenty of inlets and dotted with islands.

Boat Ramp - A gradually sloping concrete launching ramp is available. There are two lots for parking trailers.

The fishing season’s on all year long, and they’re biting everyday! Crappie, bream, muskie, walleye, trout, catfish, and five species of bass--largemouth, smallmouth, white, Kentucky, and rock--have given Dale Hollow Lake undisputed honor as a top fishing spot in the country. This lake held the world record smallmouth bass and the state record muskie. Dale Hollow Lake, formed by backing up Tennessee’s Obey River in 1943, has 620 miles of shoreline. There are plenty of shoals, small tributaries, and clean, clear water to encourage healthy fish growth.

Spear Fishing

Dale Hollow Lake is an excellent place to practice this sport. Underwater spearing of rough fish with hand-held or mechanically propelled spear is permitted year-round in Dale Hollow Lake. All participants in this sport must be submerged while spearfishing. Only rough fish may be taken and the appropriate fishing license is required. The daily creel limit is 15 fish.

There are picnic tables scattered throughout the park. Picnic grounds with a covered shelter, grills, and tables are designated. The shelter can be reserved through rental up to a year in advance. Playgrounds are located in the campground, marina, and designated picnic area. Open year-round. Fee charged for shelter rental.

Outdoor Lodge pool featuring a sloped entrance and wheelchair lift that is ADA accessible is available for lodge guests only. Park visitors can enjoy a splash in the well-tended community pool inside the campground. Camping guests swim free.

Gift Shop

The gift shop offers a wide variety of gift items, such as mugs, shot glasses, figurines, jewelry, purses, books, puzzles, candles and wind chimes. Kentucky made products include Yoder’s jams, sugar stick candy and more.

Water-Skiing

Water-skiing is popular here. There’s plenty of room for a good glide and the lake is less crowded than others of its size. Your ski boat can be launched at the marina or nearby commercial boat docks will rent ski boats and equipment. Open year-round.

Planned Recreation

Daily summer activities and year-round special events are available for children and adults under the direction of a trained recreation director.
