General Butler State Resort Park Enjoy General Butler State Resort Park’s unique setting at the confluence of the Kentucky and Ohio Rivers from the scenic overlook.

The General Butler Lodge

The hilltop Butler Lodge is an attraction within itself. Listen to the piano and admire the Ohio River valley view. Each of the 53 rooms features a private balcony or patio overlooking the pool or hillside. This hilltop resort is the essence of river town charm, featuring the warm glow of polished brass and rich woodwork. Rooms are available by late afternoon. Check-out by noon, Eastern Time.  Pets are not allowed (with the exception of service dogs).

Cottages

24 cottages are available, with some having a private balcony or patio. One, two, three-bedroom cottages with one bath and two or three executive cottages with two baths are available. Tableware, cooking utensils, and linens are provided with fresh linens available daily. Cottages are available late afternoon, check out by 11 am.  Pets are not allowed (with the exception of service dogs).

Two Rivers Restaurant

  Two Rivers’ name and fish camp décor is a reference to the Ohio and Kentucky rivers which meet in the local area. Two Rivers restaurant serves a bistro style dinner menu with a variety of items ranging from fish to pasta and chicken to steaks. We also serve our signature Kentucky favorites and locally grown produce. We also offer a daily lunch buffet and a very popular Sunday brunch. Two Rivers has been featured in the book “Dining across Kentucky” as well as on the Kentucky Life television program.

Camping

The campground offers 111 campsites with utility hookups and grills. Showers and rest rooms are available at two central service buildings and one laundry facility is available.  Check out by 1 pm. Open year-round but some sites unavailable during winter months from November 18 - March 14.  Please call to reserve a site during the winter months.

Butler-Turpin State Historic House

This fine country home built in 1859 is a place of remembrance to one of Kentucky’s foremost military families from Colonial times through the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Mexican War and the Civil War. More on Historic page…The living house museum embodies life at the confluence of the Kentucky and Ohio Rivers along with the military contributions of the Butler family. Built in the Greek revival style the house is a three-bay two-story structure with a commanding view of the Kentucky River Valley. The personal effects of military documents, furniture and objects bring to life a family steeped in military history. The house is located on the grounds of General Butler State Resort Park.

Gift Shop

The gift shop is located in the lodge lobby with lots of Kentucky hand crafts, foods and much more to choose from.

Miniature Golf

Enjoy a game of miniature golf that overlooks the beautiful lake at General Butler.

Picnicking & Playgrounds

Picnic area, playground, tennis, basketball courts and shelter house are located near the historic house on the west side of General Butler State Resort Park.

Recreation

Daily summer activities and year-round special events are planned for children and adults under the guidance of a trained recreation director. Enjoy activities on the tennis and basketball courts.

Lookout

Enjoy Butler’s unique setting at the confluence of the Kentucky and Ohio rivers from the scenic overlook. One of the highest points in Carroll County, the lookout was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the early 1930s.

Fish have been restocked in 30-acre Butler Lake--bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish. Fishing is permitted from the lake shore and from personal non-motorized boats year-round. A Kentucky Fishing License is required.

Nature Trails

To stretch your legs after dinner, take advantage of two nature trails; a 1/4 mile trail between the lodge and the camping area, and a 1/2 mile loop trail in the campground.

Mountain Biking Trail

Mountain biking is available on our Fossil Trail. It's a 4.5 mile loop trail and is open from April - November. Riders must wear helmets and anyone under 16 years of age must have an adult rider at all times. Trail is rated for the skilled rider.

Enjoy a day on the lake at General Butler. Rental pedal boats, canoes, rowboats, and surf bikes are available seasonally at the Boat Dock. No trolling motors allowed on Butler Lake at anytime. Open year-round for personal non-motorized boats.

The lodge swimming pool is for the exclusive use of lodge and cottage guests.

Hook a Kid on Golf!

Every Tuesday & Thursday Kids (13 years & under) play free with a paying adult, this only applies to green fees, and doesn't include cart fees. With the right motivation, stimulation, encouragement, and incentive General Butler's mission is to help in the effort to get Kids Hooked on Golf! This offer is available Tuesdays & Thursdays from April-October with a paying adult player.

Kentucky Scottish Weekend
5/10/2008 to 5/11/2008

Come celebrate our heritage with Scottish Bag Pipes, Pipe Bands, Highland & Country Dancing, Athletic Games, Celtic Music, British Car Show, Scottish Vendors, Clans, Special Entertainment, Border Collies, Bluegrass Music and other activities that will bring Scotland's heritage to General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton, Kentucky. Saturday night Ceilidh and Sunday Kirkin' of the Tartan will highlight this most memorable weekend. Admission charged @ festival gates. Satruday's admission good for Sunday. NO PETS ALLOWED.
