Kentucky Department of Parks

Greenbo Lake State Resort ParkThe fieldstone lodge at this resort is named in honor of Jesse Hilton Stuart, (1906-1984) Poet Laureate and native of Greenup County. Peruse Stuart’s works and personal momentos in the lodge’s reading room, or take in the mountain beauty on display along our 25 miles of nature trails and preserves.

This is the land of Jesse Stuart, the Kentucky author, poet and native son of Greenup County who introduced the Appalachian way of life to a national readership. It was from this land and its people that the author drew the inspiration for much of his work. Your group will appreciate Stuart's vision when you visit the beautiful fieldstone lodge, named in his honor, at this northeastern Kentucky resort.

The Jesse Stuart Lodge has three meeting rooms that can be combined to accommodate 200 guests banquet-style. Each room is entered by way of a foyer for pre-event functions or registration. The Greenup Room features a covered outdoor patio with views of Greenbo Lake and the surrounding woodland. And it’s amazing how often a bright idea strikes in a relaxed environment. Your group may not be quite so inclined to scratch poems on polar leaves as Jesse Stuart did when he wandered through the woods, but this setting just may transform the work-weary to creative genius.

A private dining room is also available upon request.
