The Kentucky Department of Parks and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) have joined forces to conduct a special series of Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshops at various resort park sites across the state in 2008. The Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) workshops teach hands-on outdoor skills to adult women in a safe, supportive atmosphere. BOW is a non-profit, non-membership program offered through KDFWR with weekend workshops designed especially for women who are beginners, so no experience is necessary. All equipment is provided and course instruction is offered by patient, trained and enthusiastic instructors. Each event promises to be unique in highlighting each Parks focal point.
If you are interested in participating or finding out more about these workshops please contact the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources at 800 858-1549 or visit their web-site at fw.ky.gov

Introduction to Bowfishing - 101
4/18/2008 to 4/19/2008
Bowfishing 101 is a FREE introduction to Bowfishing. The event includes a classroom style seminar using power point for questions and answers, and also a HANDS-ON demonstration with instruction for bowfishing. While in the classroom, you will learn about the basic Bowfishing equipment, types of fish to hunt for, safe bowfishing practices, the times of the year best suited for bowfishing, different ways to go bowfishing, how to handle the fish after they have been shot, and proper fish cleaning and disposal. You will learn to shoot by means of a simulated hunt situation. Once you are familiar with shooting we'll take you for a target shoot with prizes awarded. Finally, we put your skills to the test and take you to the water for the real thing! In your outing, you will usually be hunting for Carp, Gar, Buffalo, Catfish and Drum.
Bowfishing is the fastest growing archery activity today that everyone can participate in. Including men, women, and children, which makes this a great family outing. The agenda is as follows: A meet and greet on Friday, with the seminar beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, with door prizes and awards given out all day.
Package price: $59.00 for room (excluding tax). For more information please contact Cathy Clark @ 270-474-2211 or Cathyj.Clark@ky.gov
