Lake Barkley State Resort Park Trail System
Lena Madesin Phillips Self-Guided Interpretive Trail .75-mile
Foot travel only, no mountain bikes. The trailhead starts below the lodge's east wing playground and meanders through the lakeshore woodlands. The trail features scenic lake views and a swinging bridge. The trail includes numbered stations that correlate with a trail booklet which describes the changeable nature of this forestland. The booklets are available at the recreation office and the trail head. When walked at a leisurely pace, the trail takes about 45-minutes to complete. The loop design of the path will return you to the playground area.
Cedar Grove Trail 2-miles
This trail connects the main lodge facility to the beach and picnic areas. Trail distance is measured one-way. Hikers must first walk a section of the Lena Madesin Phillips Trail to reach the actual start of this trail. The trail outlet is at a parking lot in the vicinity of the beach. By crossing the beach parking lot you will find the trailhead for the Wagon Wheel Trail. This will lead you to the campground and Wilderness Trail. Combining the three trails creates a 5-mile loop.
Wilderness Trail 2.6-miles
This trail also features an abbreviated trailhead. Part of the Lena Madesin Phillips Trail must be travelled before reaching the actual beginning of the trail. Trail distance is measured one-way. The trail's outlet lies just north of the stables. At trails end, cross the paved road and reenter the woods by the water tower, turn left at the trail sign and follow it to the campground pavilion.
Blue Springs Trail 1.5-miles
Foot travel only, no mountain bikes. This trail is located between the main park road and the Little River Lodge. To find the trailhead, exit the main lodge check-in building and cross the access bridge. The trailhead will be found along the paved pathway that leads to the Little River Annex. Trail distance is measured one-way, and the outlet is located in the bottom area across from the Fitness Center. A wildlife viewing area is located on this trail near the lake. This is a great location to observe deer, geese and shore birds.
Wagon Wheel Trail .3-mile
This trail serves as an access to the beach area for our camping guests. The trailhead commences at the end of the Wilderness Trail. The trail's outlet is found at the back of the beach parking lot.
