Kentucky is famed for bluegrass, bourbon, beautiful mountains and thoroughbreds. And, spurred by a renewed focus from the State Park system, golf now is becoming a larger part of Kentucky's recreational reputation. With 19 State Park golf courses, there is sure to be something for everyone.

Famed since 2001, our seven Signature Series course situated in every region of the state, offer exciting championship play amid the pastoral beauty of the "nation’s finest" park system. Each course offers an outstanding golf experience for players of all ages. Four of the Signature Series courses; Grayson Lake, Pine Mountain, Dale Hollow, Yatesville Lake, have received national awards from Golf Digest as “Best New Affordable Public Courses”.

For private accommodations, enjoy one of our cottages with beautiful lake or wooded views. Each has unique appeal, and offer screened-in porches or decks. Tableware, cooking utensils and linens are provided, with fresh linen provided daily.

No matter the season you’ll love Kentucky’s mild climate. Summers can be very warm, but cool evenings are not unusual. For spring and fall, it’s a good idea to carry a light jacket. Temperatures in Kentucky are normally the lowest in January and highest in July. The highest temperatures usually occur in extreme western Kentucky. The lowest temperatures occur along the upland Ohio and West Virginia borders.

Renovations

General Burnside Island State Park is currently undergoing a complete renovation for a brand new 18-hole golf course. Brian Ault, designer of Dale Hollow and Hidden Cove, both recognized nationally by Golf Digest, was selected as the architect. The course is on an island surrounded by Lake Cumberland. In addition, the new design will also have a driving range. The newly renovated golf course is sure to be spectacular with projected opening Spring 2008.

Other Improvements

Two golf shops completed at Dale Hollow and Mineral Mound. Two more golf shops will open soon at Hidden Cove at Grayson Lake and Eagle Ridge at Yatesville Lake.

Two new practice ranges will open at Dale Hollow and Yatesville Lake.

New dining choices for you to enjoy at our 17 resort park restaurants with new menus and concepts prepared by our award-winning chefs.
