Big Bone Lick State Historic Site, Union
Trail Maintenance Day with the Northern Kentucky Sierra Club
April 14
This event is co-sponsored by the Northern Kentucky Sierra Club and will last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet at the museum parking lot a few minutes early to allow for the completion of volunteer paper work. All participants must pre-register with John Robbins at john@johnfrobbins.com. Volunteers should wear long sleeves, pants, sturdy work boots, and work gloves. A backpack is recommended for carrying supplies. Volunteers should be capable of hiking and working on moderately difficult trails with uneven terrain. Trash bags, rubber gloves, trash grabbers, handsaws, and loppers will be provided.  Water and light snacks will be available.  This event is free and open to the public. Call 859-384-3522.


Big Bone Lick State Historic Site, Union
Big Bone Creek Clean-Up
April 21
Staff and volunteers will be picking up litter in and around the stream, along the creek banks, and in the flood zones surrounding Big Bone Creek from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet at the Bison Circle Parking Lot a few minutes early to allow time to complete volunteer forms. Volunteers should wear rubber boots. Volunteers must wear waders if they plan on entering the stream. Trash bags, rubber gloves, and trash grabbers will be provided by the park.  Water and light snacks will be available to volunteers. This event is free and open to the public. Call 859-384-3522.

Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park, Buckhorn
Lake and Park Cleanup
April 14
Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park will host a Lake and Park Clean up on April 7 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Meet at the state park marina parking lot. Dress for weather conditions and wear closed-toe shoes. Bags and gloves will be provided and door prizes. Volunteers will pick up trash around Buckhorn Lake. A free lunch out will follow at noon. Civil War Trust Park Clean Up Day
April 28
Civil War Trust Park Clean Up Day at Columbus-Belmont State Park will start at 9 a.m. on April 28. This annual event brings history enthusiasts together in an effort to help keep our nation’s heritage not only preserved, but pristine. Since 1996, the Civil War Trust has sponsored Park Day, an annual event to help Civil War battlefields and historic sites take on maintenance projects. Tasks will include raking leaves, picking up trash and limbs, planting flowers and shrubs, and trail maintenance.  Bring gloves, rakes, gardening tools.  A light lunch and a t-shirt will be given to volunteers.  Call 270-677-2327 for information.

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, Corbin
East Kentucky Pride Cleanup
April 28
East Kentucky Pride is hosting a cleanup at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park starting at 9 a.m. at the falls area. The cleanup will be along Highway 90 and the riverbank. A cookout with door prizes will follow. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Wear good walking shoes. Call 606-528-4121.

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, Burkesville
PRIDE Spring Clean Up, April 21
Visit Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park to prepare one of the region's most beautiful assets for the upcoming tourist season! Registration begins at 9 a.m. CST at the picnic area shelter located at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park. Volunteers will begin picking up at 10 a.m. at Hendricks Dock, Sulphur Creek Dock and Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park. Participants get a free lunch and a free t-shirt (while supplies last). There will be door prize drawings with prizes consisting of bicycles, gift cards and local merchant donations. Patches are available for Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops. Sponsors include: Kentucky's Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, Wal-Mart, Outdoor Venture Corp., and Kentucky American Water. Call 270-433-7431.

General Butler State Resort Park, Carrollton
Tree Planting, April 28
Volunteers are needed at General Butler State Resort Park to help plant trees from 9 a.m. to noon. If necessary, work will continue from 1-3 p.m. There will be a cookout for volunteers. Register at the lodge at 8:30 a.m. For information, call the park at 502-732-4384.

American Hiking Society Trail Work
May 6-11
General Butler State Resort Park will be hosting an American Hiking Society Vacation Trail Crew May 6-11. This crew will be working on park trails during the week. Anyone interested in helping from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. is welcome. Call 502-732-4384 for more information.

Kenlake State Resort Park, Aurora
Earth Day Cleanup
April 21
Kenlake State Resort Park will host its Earth Day Clean Up from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will pick up trash along the lakeshore and trails. Bring comfortable shoes, gloves and water. Tools and trash bags will be provided, along with a free lunch for volunteers. Call 270-474-2211.

Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site, Perryville

Civil War Trust Park Day, April 14 (was previously scheduled for April 7)
Participants can sign up from 8-9 a.m. at Civil War Hall located across from the museum for this April 14 event. Work will include split rail fence building and trail work! The Friends of Perryville Battlefield will provide lunch and museum admission is free. All volunteers will receive a discount in the museum store.  Please wear long pants, boots and bring work gloves. Yatesville Lake State Park, Louisa
Yatesville Lake Spring Cleanup
April 14
This clean up day, sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, starts at 9 a.m. at the Lawrence County Park, shelter #3. Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather, including good walking shoes. Trash bags, gloves and lunch will be provided. Volunteers will pick up trash around the lake shoreline and creeks.
