State parks provide a great place for a getaway weekend along with excellent food, entertainment, natural beauty and scenery.
Barren River Lake State Resort Park
Barren River Lake State Resort Park invites you to its annual Honeymooners’ Weekend. You don’t have to be on your honeymoon to enjoy these festivities, so bring your special someone for a fun, romantic weekend getaway. Friday night is costume karaoke night with an ’80s theme! Dress up as your favorite ’80s singer or ’80s group, and party like a rock star! Saturday afternoon will feature the “Not-so-Newly Wed Game.” Saturday night, sit down in the Driftwood Restaurant and enjoy a delicious prime rib dinner. Valentine’s Day Getaway

Lake Barkley State Resort Park
Enjoy a dinner and dance with the one you love! Lake Barkley is offering a prime rib and shrimp buffet. The band “Top Tier” will perform for the dance. Dinner and dance package is $120 a couple. Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park
Rekindle the flame and celebrate the love of your life with a romantic Sweetheart’s Dinner on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 14. The special dinner will feature two entrees; a 10 oz. ribeye or grilled chicken breast with your choice of either shrimp or chicken alfredo. Both entrees will include your include your choice of fresh steamed vegetables or baked potato. Fresh bread and a garden salad accompany all dinner selections. A dessert bar featuring tiramisu, Italian cream cake, and caramel banana pudding will also be offered. A table treat of chocolate dipped strawberries will accent your dining pleasure. Rough River Dam State Resort Park

Sweetheart Wreath Workshop
Why buy a Valentine’s Day wreath when you can make your own from natural materials found around the park? Let our park naturalist show you how to take invasive honeysuckle vines and turn them into a piece of art you will treasure forever! The park will provide all materials needed to create the wreaths, but you can bring anything you'd like to add to it. Workshop is in the activities building from 1-3 p.m. The fee is $10 per couple or $7 for individuals. Registration required, call 502-429-7270 to reserve your spot!
E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park
Bring your sweetheart on this guided hike through E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park from 12:30-2:30 p.m. We will be looking for signs of wildlife around the park as we stroll down the Goose Creek Nature Trail and other trails around the park. Bring your binoculars, as we will be looking for whitetail deer, various species of birds, and whatever else may cross our path. The fee is $5 per couple or $3 for singles. General Butler State Resort Park
Lucy and Ricky Tribute Show
Visit General Butler State Resort Park for a musical comedy based on the “I Love Lucy Show.” Melody Knighton plays Lucy and Luis Hernandez is Ricky in this tribute to Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. The dinner show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for dinner and the show are $40 a person plus tax. Pine Mountain State Resort Park
Looking for something different to do on Valentine’s Day? Bring your sweetheart and join park interpreter Beth Byrnes on a hike at Pine Mountain State Resort Park. On Friday, Feb. 14, hike to the park’s largest waterfall, Honeymoon Falls, or take a stroll along the Clear Creek Hollow Trail. On Saturday, Feb. 15, get up early and hike to Chained Rock with your Valentine to watch the sunrise or hike through the magnificent Hemlock Garden.
