Barren River Lake State Resort Park invites you to its annual Honeymooner’s Weekend, February 15-17. You don’t have to be on your honeymoon to enjoy these festivities, so bring your special someone for a fun, romantic weekend getaway. Dress up as your favorite singer Friday night and party like a rock star as you perform in the Star Karaoke Costume contest! Single, duet, and group performances are welcome. How well do you know your sweetheart? Find out Saturday afternoon as we play the “Not-So-Newlywed Game.” Saturday night, enjoy a delicious buffet dinner in the Driftwood Restaurant. After dinner you can dance to your favorite songs provided by DJ Cindy Cossey. She will teach you a few dance steps, and we will play some couples-themed games during the dance. Sweetheart Wreath-making Workshop and a Sweetheart Hike

The park will host a Sweetheart Wreath Workshop on Sunday, Feb. 10, from 1-3 p.m. at the Sawyer-Hayes Community Center. There is nothing better than a handcrafted gift for your sweetie on Valentines Day! The fee is $7 per couple. All materials needed to decorate wreaths will be provided, but feel free to bring an item or two to personalize yours! Hot chocolate will be available during the event. Call 502-429-7270 to register. The park will also host a Sweetheart Hike from 3:30-5 p.m. on Feb. 10. The fee is $3 per person or couple. After making the wreath, go hand in hand on this hike. We will hike for about 1½ miles, looking for signs of wildlife and observing the natural beauty of the park. Dress for the weather, as this hike will proceed in most conditions.
General Butler State Resort Park

Enjoy a dinner theater with Matt Snow portraying Frank Sinatra. The audience will be taken through Sinatra’s entire career, from the music he was singing when he began in the Early Years of 1939-1950; his Comeback Years in the 1950’s , to the Very Good Years of the 1960’s, until Final Curtain Show chronicles his career up until his death in 1998. Bring your sweetheart out to Natural Bridge for some easy-to-learn Appalachian square dancing, clogging, line dancing, two-stepping, polkas, waltzes, and many other couples and individual dances. The warm-up begins at 6:30 p.m., and the official start time is 7:30 p.m. The dance will be held in the Woodland Center and typically lasts until 10 p.m. Admission is $3 per adult, and children under 12 are free.
