Clean Ups & Leave No Trace

Several Kentucky State Parks hold park clean ups throughout the year. Continue to scroll down for a list of participating parks and more information about  the Leave No Trace policy.

2017 Spring Clean Ups  



General Butler State Resort Park, Carrollton
Clean the Park Day, April 8
Helping hands are being requested to clean up General Butler State Resort Park from 9 a.m. to noon on April 8, 2017. Meet at the Stone Shelter. Hot dogs, chips and a drink will be provided to volunteers after work is complete. Call 502-732-4384 for more info. 

Old Fort Harrod State Park
Pick up the Park, April 8

Community volunteers can help clean up the park between 8 a.m. to noon to prepare for the annual Easter egg hunt. Water, coffee, gloves and trash bags will be provided. Call 859-734-3314.


Yatesville Lake State Park
Annual Lake Cleanup, April 8

The annual lake cleanup for Yatesville Lake will start at 9 a.m. at the Lawrence County Park Shelter. Call 606-673-1492.

Taylorsville Lake State Park, Taylorsville
Clean up Day, April 22

Volunteers are needed at Taylorsville Lake State Park for a clean up day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park
Annual Lakeshore Clean up, April 22

Volunteers can pick up litter around the lakeshore. Garbage bags, gloves and drinking water will be provided. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the Marina Road above the beach area and a cookout for volunteers will be held after the cleanup at the lower shelter. Columbus-Belmont State Park
Park Clean Up Day, April 29

This annual event brings history enthusiasts together in an effort to help keep our nation’s heritage preserved and pristine.  Tasks will include raking leaves, picking up trash and limbs, planting flowers and shrubs, and trail maintenance.  Bring gloves, rakes, gardening tools.  Participants will be given a light lunch and a T-shirt.
