September is Kentucky Archaeology Month and in recognition, Wickliffe Mounds will have special hands-on demonstrations and activities for learning about archaeology for visitors of all ages, kids to adults. Featured activities include a mock excavation dig for kids, archaeology methods and artifact identification station, spear and atlatl throwing, flint knapping with multi-knappers, bow and arrows, finger weaving, basket weaving, cordage making, pottery, and various crafts to make and take home. Participate in a drum circle and musical instruments from Indigenous cultures of South America. Native American game of Stickball available. Displays of Native American foods and gourds.
