Description

The annual Ohio Valley Birding Festival kicks off today! Join in this morning's hike with a look at Patoka River National Wildlife Refuge. A local birding expert will meet you at Boyd Woods in Oakland City, IN at 7 A.M. for this guided walk to search for warblers and other migratory songbirds. Continuing through Snakey Point Marsh may afford glimpses of waterfowl and marsh birds, and a view of the little-visited Columbia Mine Preserve may find grassland sparrow species. Expect to be afield about 2-3 hours. Sturdy shoes are recommended and if you have binoculars, bring them along. Participation is free! Specific driving directions for this hike and a schedule of the weekend events can be seen here or found in the dropdown menu "Maps, Menus, and More" under the picture.
