Celebrate the end of summer during Labor Day Weekend 2018 at a Kentucky State Park! Enjoy the outdoors on your own or check out one of these park events!

Carter Caves State Resort Park, Olive Hill
Cave-In Movie Night, Sept. 2
Plan to visit for a Cave-in Movie Night at Carter Caves! The park will throw up the big screen at Cascade Caves and treat you to a movie presentation right inside the Grand Ballroom of the cave. Featuring “Jumanji, Welcome to the Jungle.” The park provides the entertainment, the drinks, and snacks; you just bring the chairs!  Cost is $5 per person at the door (cash only - drinks and snacks sold separately). 606-286-4411. 

General Burnside Island State Park, Burnside
Campground Labor Day Weekend celebration, Aug. 31-Sept. 3
Come out and join us for a weekend full of recreational activities and family fun.  We will have games, crafts, and DG Balloons will be doing a magic show Saturday night from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.  All activities are included in the camping fee.  Book your site now at or by calling 1-888-459-7275.

Green River Lake State Park, Campbellsville
Pottery Lessons, Sept. 1
Albert Bauman will teach guests all about pottery. This event will be held in the campground at 9 a.m. and is for campers only. 270-465-8255.

 Jefferson Davis State Historic Site, Fairview
Bluegrass Concert, Aug. 31
Jefferson Davis Sate Historic Site will be hosting a bluegrass concert starting at 6 p.m. The band is Kentucky 115 and the event is free to the public. Just bring a lawn chair. 270-889-6100.

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, Calvert City
Labor Day Weekend Events, Sept. 1-2
Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park will host a concert at the campground on Sept. 1 by Instant Zeal. It’s free and open to campers and the public. Kentucky Lake Outdoors will have kayaks at the old beach for visitors to try out on Sept. 2. Dave Cottrell will have a magic show starting at 7 p.m.; it’s open to the public. Call 270-362-4271.

Nolin Lake State Park, Mammoth Cave
Weekend Celebration, Aug. 31-Sept. 3
Nolin Lake State Park will be hosting the Labor Day Weekend Celebration, August 31 – September 3, 2018. Let’s end summer 2018 with a bang! The park staff will be out and about, with games, crafts, activities, and more for the whole family. Sandcastle competitions, volleyball games, cornhole, campfires, and more!  270-286-4240.

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, Dawson Springs
Labor Day Beach Blast, Sept. 2-3
Lots of fun family friendly activities will be held at the Pennyrile Forest beach all day long. Tie-dye t-shirts, music, and a beach volleyball tournament. The concession stand will be selling food. 270-797-3421.

Rough River Dam State Resort Park, Lucas
Concert in the Park, Aug. 31
Celebrate the start of Labor Day weekend by attending the concert with The Hiding Band starting at 6:30 p.m. This is the second summer concert with this group and they are a crowd favorite.  Enjoy the views, food and great music. 270-257-2311.

Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site, Wickliffe
Hands on History, Sept. 1
As part of the park’s “Hands On History” Saturdays, Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site will present programs that focus on Native Americans of the Mississippian culture and the archaeological history of the site.  These are great family activities for all ages!  Programs are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The topic for Sept. 1 is “Primitive Hunting Tools” that will include a demonstration of spears, atlatls and blow guns.  Learn how they were made and used and try them out for yourself.
