Description

Perryville resident John Russell and the Battle of Perryville

Park manager Bryan Bush will give a first person interpretation of Perryville resident John Russell. Learn about John Russell's family and how the Battle of Perryville, which was fought on October 8, 1862, effected his land and home. During the battle, his home was the focal point towards the end of the battle where Union forces took a position in front of his home and the Confederate forces would attack the Union from the front and right side of his home. The battle also took a toll on his family, both financially and mentally. After the battle, the home was used as a field hospital and members of the family had to bury the dead that was left in their front yard. Cost is $5.00 for adults, $4.50 for seniors and veterans and $3.00 for children 7-12. The event will be held at Civil War Hall at 1:00 pm and will last an hour.
