Take a break from lessons and tests to spend some time outside with hands-on learning! Homeschool days are designed for homeschooling families looking to take educational field trips. Each date will cover a new topic through two, 45-minute programs. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Preregistration and prepayment is required, no refunds. $5.00 per student.

August 26 - FULL
Life Inside the Hive - Buzz...buzz...this lesson sure is sweet! Our park beekeeper will be a guest educator as we break down life inside a honey bee hive. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the structure of a bee hive, how bees live day to day, and how they prepare for the cooler temperatures of Fall. Students will also build their own bee hotel to take home!

September 7 - FULL
Solar Adventures - Northern Kentucky University's Haile Planetarium will be a guest educator as we dive deep into solar energy. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the Sun, take an up-close look through a solar telescope, and test the strength of a solar oven!

September 14 - FULL
The Weather Cycle - Join our park naturalist as we explore the the water cycle! Students will have the opportunity to learn about how water moves through the environment and atmosphere, what causes rain, and even try their hand at making their own cloud!

October 5 - FULL
Lewis and Clark - Lewis and Clark were famous American explorers known for their grand expedition into the newly acquired American West. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the preparations made before the expedition, explore the Lewis and Clark trunk, and take off on a mock expedition to explore more about the Corps of Discovery and their discoveries in the West.

November 2 - FULL
National Bison Day - Join us in celebrating National Bison Day (November 5) by running wild with the herd! Students will have the opportunity to see the Big Bone Bison up-close while learning about the history of bison both in North America but also at Big Bone Lick. Students will create their own mini bison to take home!

November 9 - FULL
Let it Snow - As the last leaves fall and temperatures grow colder, join our park naturalist as we discover the environment of the Ice Age. Students will have the opportunity to learn about how nature prepares for winter, what causes snow to fall, and do their own pipe cleaner experiment to make a snowflake!
