General Burnside Island Golf Course
ALERT: During the coronavirus outbreak, park golf courses are open. However, golf courses have taken precautions during the outbreak. Those steps include such things as closing pro shops to drive thru service only, and spacing tee times 20 minutes apart. Golf cart rentals will resume June 1 with one person or a family per cart. The golf courses have removed bunker rakes, and made modifications to the flagsticks to help eliminate the spreading of the virus.
The public golf course at General Burnside Island State Park is located on an island surrounded by Lake Cumberland in Somerset, KY. Brian Ault, designer of Dale Hollow Lake and Hidden Cove, both recognized by Golf Digest, designed this spectacular waterfront layout.
At 6394 yards, the course features Zoysia fairways, bent grass tees and greens. The natural beauty of large boulders highlighting the landscape at hole 6 will set you up for a beautiful view atop the back tee. In 2009 this state park golf course received the 1st place Commonwealth Journal Readers Choice Award as the "Best Places To Play Golf." General Burnside Island State Park golf course was recognized in Kentucky Living magazine’s 2016 Reader’s Choice Awards! Hall of Fame, Golf Course: First place
