Looking for state park lodging near Land Between the Lakes? If you want to spend a night or a weekend at Lake Barkley, cabins and campgrounds aren’t your only choices. World-class Lake Barkley lodge, designed by Edward Durell Stone, seems to have just emerged naturally from the wooded shoreline that surrounds it. Using a post-and-beam wood construction of Western Cedar, Douglas fir, and three-and one-half acres of glass, the recently renovated Barkley Lodge complex provides a lake view from the private balconies of most of the 120 rooms and four suites. Open year-round. Rooms available by late afternoon. Lodge room check-out by 11 a.m. local time. We are now pet friendly! The park also has 13 cottages.

Things to Do
Seven miles of trails are open for mountain biking.
Over 200 avian species can be observed or heard in the park, including an abundance of warbler species including: Prothonotary, Kentucky, Blue-winged, and Worm-eating warblers, Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Wild Turkeys, vultures, Pileated Woodpeckers, Red-Headed Woodpeckers, Wood Thrushes, orioles, tanagers, hawks, owls, Belted Kingfishers, swallows, a wide variety of waterfowl, and many, many others. The park currently has nearly 60 bluebird nest boxes, and most can be observed from the park’s roads. In the fall and winter, large flocks (dozens---sometimes, hundreds) of American White Pelicans and Double-crested Cormorants can be observed from the lodge. Winter is also a great time to view ducks and waterfowl on the lake. Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead, Mergansers, Loons, Grebes, and coots are just a few of the winter visitors. In the spring and summer these birds head north and are replaced by Snowy Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Black-crowned Night-herons, Great Egrets, and other fish eating birds.
With a 57,920-acres, Lake Barkley is a year-round boating paradise. Lake Barkley marina is one-half mile from the lodge and offers 150 covered slips, 54 open slips, daily slips, and a launching ramp. Rental Tri-Toons, pontoons, double-decker pontoon with slide, and fishing boats available, plus optional skis, tubes, and kneeboards available for rent online at lakebarkleymarina.com. Fishing licenses also available for purchase at the marina store. Cap'n Jim's Grill is located right next to the marina store for a quick bite to eat. Seasonal. Enjoy hours of fishing pleasure at Lake Barkley. Anglers cast for largemouth, white, and Kentucky bass, bluegill, channel catfish and crappie. A Kentucky Fishing License is required. Click here to purchase a license online at KY Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Don't have a fishing pole? No problem! Ask the front desk at the park about their fishing loaner program where you can check out FREE equipment.
ALERT: As a precautionary measure due to the coronavirus outbreak, the fitness center at Lake Barkley State Resort Park will be closed until further notice effective March 13, 2020.
Pamper yourself year-round at the Lake Barkley Fitness Center. This indoor facility is equipped with nautilus machines, fitness cycles, Olympic free-weight room, leverage equipment, aerobic classes, glass racquet ball court, sauna, wet-steam room, whirlpool, heated indoor wellness pool and locker rooms.
$5 fee per person, per day for walk-ins. Weekly, monthly, and annual memberships are also available for purchase. Daily fee is discounted for Lake Barkley Resort campground and marina guests. Entertain yourself and impress your friends. Video games, pool and ping pong tables, checker tables, and a room full of smiles await you in the Lodge’s lower lobby. Operating hours: Sunday – Thursday, 9am – 10pm; Friday – Saturday, 9am – 11pm.
Our gift shop is lavishly decorated with something for everyone. The Kentucky crafts people represented range from the finest potters to the most intricate woodworkers. Many souvenirs depicting the local wildlife, such as deer, horses, raccoons, frogs and hummingbirds are available. Choose from a wide variety of t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, magnets, and postcards.

Enjoy the beauty surrounding Lake Barkley on one of three self-guiding trails, providing 9 miles of nature study. Seven miles are open for mountain biking.
Located at the Fitness Center for lodge & cottage guests.
A swimming pool fronting the lodge between the lake and the lodge is for the exclusive seasonal use of lodge and cottage guests. The public beach, open seasonally, offers a volleyball court, bathhouse, and hours of swimming fun in the waters of Lake Barkley.
Enjoy a tennis match on one of two lighted courts near the lodge.
Test your marksmanship at Lake Barkley’s trap range. Cost is $20.00 per person*, per round of 25 shots. 12-gauge shotguns and clays are included. The charge for clays only is $10.00* per round of 25, but participants must provide own shotgun and stainless steel ammunition. Supervised trapshooting is seasonal and weather permitting.
*Price per person for private groups of less than 8 people is $25.00; $15.00 per person for clays only.

Private shoot can be arranged for other days and times by contacting Lake Barkley Recreation at 270-924-1429. To ensure availability, it is highly recommended that groups reserve the range at least two weeks in advance. Deposit required to secure reservation. Cancellation charge may apply.
Sand courts are located at the public beach.
